The Chilean Rescue

I'm probably in the minority on this one, but does anyone else find it disturbing that the Chilean miners are each getting a 6 month stipend from their government? What? Huh? Why? Because anytime people do heroic things or survive horrible circumstances they now are entitled to government aid? Wrong. Totally wrong.

    I think I'd need to know more about the situation before I agree.

    Were the miners employed by the government?

    Jonathan, that's a good question...as far as I can tell they were employed by a private mine and that they are getting money because they are considered "heroes". I guess my thought would be that if they were employed by the government it's still a tragedy because the Biblical purpose of government is ONLY to protect life, liberty, and property...not own and operate mines :) Just my thoughts...
